Does anyone here ever watch True Stories of the Highway Patrol, or COPS? My favorite episodes are the ones with high speed chases. It seems at least once a week that a chase involves someone fleeing the cops who just happens to have a buddy in the car with him. The funny thing about it is that usually, it turns out that the passenger had little to nothing at all to do with the driver's decision to freak out and drag race the cops. He just happened to be stupid enough to let his friend drive him around, completely unaware how his friend would react when the shit hit the fan.

What makes it worse is that the poor bastard usually shares whatever punishment his friend receives - if the car crashes, the friend might die, and if the guy finally surrenders, both people are smacked down hard, forced to the ground, yelled at, aimed at, etc. Of course, things generally get straightened out, but on these TV shows this only happens at the end of the episode in voice over narration.

As an American, I kind of feel like that passenger right now. Of course, on COPS, there usually isn't another friend in the backseat celebrating the situation and yelling at the unwilling passenger to shut up and stop stabbing the crazy ass driver in the back.
