Bob Hope in Hell?

Oh. My. God. Those ignorant assholes from Westboro Baptist church are across the street from my work right now picketing a Bob Hope Memorial at the Academy of TV Arts & Sciences. Here’s part of the flyer they’re circulating on their website :

So far, I’ve seen people carrying signs that read “HOPE IS IN HELL” and “GOD HATES FAG ENABLERS”. Oddly enough, I haven’t seen anyone carrying a sign that says “Love thy neighbor as thyself” or ” He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone”. I’d think since both of those saying actually appear in the Bible, that they’d be more popular. Oh well….

  3. Actually, you have to admire their almost indie-rock obsession with obscure-iana. Bob hope’s only “Pro-Soddomite” thing was a commercial he did back in the 80s, after being criticized for using the word Fag. (he was genuinely remourseful and paid for the commercial himself, so he gets props).

    I mean, there have to be tons more nationally recognized and relevant Fag-Appeasers, people working more actively and successfully towards advancing the Gay, Communist, Lesbo-Feminazi agenda, but they chose to avoid that popular bullshit and go for hip indie Cred. Good for them! This is the fundamentalism equivalent of Calling someone a posuer because they buy CD instead of vinyl.

    Or maybe not. Actually, these guys are freaks who deserve to be taken as quickly as possible to meet the guy whom they claim hates fags. Also, I think we should protest outside of their protests with signs that read “God Fags Haters”

  4. This is totally confusing to me, but I’m glad they’re protesting. Bob Hope is loved by millions (billions?) and this makes the anti-gay agenda look ridiculous.

    I wonder–did they wait to pick on him until he was dead, because now he can’t scorch them with a real zinger from the stage at his next USO show?

  5. I’ve linked this post from my blog because a friend and I have been having raging debates over the ordination of Rev. Gene. It is astounding to me that people take time out of their day to do something like this. Who are these people and what are they trying to accomplish?
