Blogger Off, Mate
Well, that was goddamn frustrating. My site died (or rather, was murdered by my hosting company). Like a webmaster Jesus however, I was able to raise my little blog Lazarus back from the dead (I’m still working on the water to wine trick). In rebuilding the site from scratch I’m sure I’ve overlooked a few things, so lemme know if you see anything funny.

Jesus. Your hosting company deleted everything? I’m thinking they owe you a few free months of crappy hosting, at the very least. Fuckers.

What happened was that they somehow fried the server I was on. When they migrated a backup of my site to the new server, the DB was completely corrupted. So I had to figur out a way to export all the entries and comments from the DB, save all my templates and cinfig settings, wipe the DB, and then rebuild the site from the backups. Needless to say, it was a big pain in the ass.

What kind of database are you using? I assume it’s a MySQL database. That’s what I’m using on mine, and I’ve developed a handy dandy tool that replicates the MySQL data to MS Access (if you have a copy of Access) so that I can store multiple copies. If I ever need to recreate something I just run a couple of SQL scripts from Access that copy the data over.
I could hook you up with something similar.

When I first installed MT, I was having problems getting the MySQL DB to work, so I’m using Berkeley DB (which is supposed to be pretty unreliable).
While I’m in techie mode, I’m gonna take another stab at converting the DB to SQL. Wish me luck.

Hmmm…well the conversion seems to have gone okay. I got a bunch of errors, but I think they’re only Trackback related.

Oh. My. God.
If true, these allegations are shocking (and considering how low my opinion of Bush is, that’s saying a lot) :The White House and military and diplomatic officials on Monday denied allegations Haitian President Jean-Bertrand Aristide was kidnapped by U…

Redundancy
I saw a cross-eyed Jesus fish this afternoon. That is to say I saw a Jesus fish with a small cross located near the front tip of the fish. Is it possible that the creator of that logo really believed…
