Please Tell Me This Is A Joke

They’re talking about making Gephardt the VP nominee? Dick Gephardt? The same guy who dropped out of the Presidential race on the night of the first primary? The same guy who was so weak as the House minority leader that he was replaced with Nancy Pelosi? Lemme join Kevin and Jesse in saying that this is a bad, bad idea. At least most bad ideas at least make sense on paper (like Lieberman for VP), but this one doesn’t make sense at all. If he can’t even get in the top three in a primary state that he was expecting to win, then what the hell does he have to offer as a VP? Forgive me for sounding like a thesaurus here, but he’s boring, bland, tepid, and weak. In short, he’s a “miserable failure”.

  1. Jesus, I thought I’d have to wait until at least the october debates to say this, but this literally defies reason and logic, not to mention sanity. If gephart is chosen as the VP nomination, it will prove utterly that the dems aren’t serious about winning elections, winning the hearts and minds of voters, or even fucking governing.

What’s worse, it’s as if the last 10 months never happened. Gephart is a wuss, pure and simple. Oh he’s nice and all, and I’m glad he’s on our side. But I’m fucking tired of being represented by meek little kittens too scared to actually stand up and defend the country from the right wing attack machine.

If they do something that blindingly self defeating, they don’t deserve to win in November. I’m willing to bet 50 bucks this little rumor has been put out by Gephart’s people to test the waters and see how their guy polls. With luck, we’ll soon see Kerry defend his good buddy but politely say he hasn’t made his selection yet.

  2. Who would you like to see as their VP candidate? I can’t think of anyone other than Edwards, setting him up to take the Presidency four years later.

  3. the guy who was responsable for the republicans handing the democrats their asses in 2002. great.

just goes to prove that kerry is going to do everything he can to try to convince me to vote for nader between now and the election.

lucky for kerry bush will probably do more to convince me to vote for kerry, but i’m getting less sure…
