Toeing The Line
If there really were “grammar police” I’d be in jail right now. Everybody’s got little mistakes that drive them nuts, but apparently I’ve hit sore nerves this week with some commenters by making the same mistake twice :
“it’s TOE the line not tow the line”“Well done, but lines, party or otherwise are not “towed,” they are toed. One toes the line. Puts his toes on the line. Like in drill. Toe.”
Okay guys, point taken. I’ll do my best to make sure there are no more lines towed here ever again. But I’m warning you, if I see any of you guys misuse the words “there”, “their”, or “they’re” on your blogs, I’m gonna go Zell Miller on your asses.

I get the various “there’s” goofed up too. But its/it’s has become my nemesis. Someone busted me for writing “lead” instead of “lede” – which I had known but then saw written “lead” so I tried it too because it makes more sense to me. Stupid english.
