Lowering The Level Of Discourse
One thing you’ll probably notice around here in the next couple months is an increase in the use of profanity. After the vile spectacle of last week’s GOP hate-fest, emotions are running high at the Talent Show.
In an effort to ensure that my potty mouth doesn’t interfere with my ability to compile a coherent argument, I’m going to lay down a few ground rules. For example, here’s one of my rules regarding use of the F-word :
The F-word (and its etymological descendants) shall not be used except in cases in which it accentuates a point that could already be made without it. Accordingly, the use of the term as a noun or verb is discouraged.Wrong :
George Bush is a wimpy fucker.
I can’t believe any woman would want to fuck Dick Cheney.Right :
George Bush is a fucking wimp.
I can’t believe any woman would want to be intimate with Dick fuckin’ Cheney.
My apologies to those who prefer that their bloggers not “work blue”. If it helps, I’ll be putting a nickel in my swear jar and be donating the proceeds to the Bush/Cheney campaign.

You are right, using fuck correctly is important and no woman (or decent gay man) would want to fuck Dick Cheney.

I simply don’t understand the need when the Vice President’s last name provides such an excellent substitute.
