Christmas Branding
Since the over-commercialization of everything in our society has seemingly transformed the twelve days of Christmas into a good 30-40, I guess it’s never too early to evoke the Christmas spirit. Since politics is the name of the game here, lemme endorse this new bit of senate branding :

Please tell me I’m not the only one who picked up on this dichotomy during the VP debate :

Ho ho ho…
UPDATE : For those of you who are scratching your heads over the “Mr. Potter” reference, here’s a hint :

What dichotomy? Good vs. Evil? The picture itself or something in the picture?
I hate rhetorical questions.

Thank you…I didn’t get it, either! I clicked on your comment looking for some clues…

The images break up the text and I guess make it difficult to understand — but the dichotomy he’s referring to is Cheney / Potter vs. Edwards / Bailey.

Well thanks for the update . . . I hate to admit, but I was one of the head-scratchers.

Ah…it makes sense now. I got the Potter = Cheney reference, but didn’t get the photo reference as I would break a nail to flip the remote away from “It’s a Wonderful Life”. I’m certain it plays on the theaters in Hell 24/7.

I was all “so Dick Cheney is Harry Potter? I would have pegged him as more of a Voldemort type.”

A couple of quotes from the relevant speech by George Bailey (Jimmy Stewart) to Potter (Dick Cheney):
“You sit around here and you spin your little webs and you think the whole world revolves around you and your money. Well, it doesn’t, Mr. Potter. In the whole vast configuration of things, I’d say you were nothing but a scurvy little spider.”
“Just remember this, Mr. Potter, that this rabble you’re talking about. They do most of the working and paying and living and dying in this community. Well, is it too much to have them work and pay and live and die in a couple of decent rooms and a bath? Anyway, my father didn’t think so. People were human beings to him, but to you, a warped, frustrated old man, they’re cattle. Well, in my book, he died a much richer man than you’ll ever be.”
Makes me feel like going out and watching the ‘lost’ ending again…
