Try, Try Again
Shorter Paul Krugman :
Mr. President, they tried that1 and it didn’t work.
Shorter Jonathan Chait :
Mr. President, we tried that2 and it didn’t work.
Shorter George W. Bush :
Don’t worry guys, this time 4 minus 2 will equal 5.
Somewhere, Al Gore is in a padded room screaming the words “fuzzy math!” at CNN over and over again.
1 : Privatizing social security without cutting benefits or raising taxes.
2 : Cutting the hell out of taxes to promote economic growth.

Krugman and Chait are operating under the quaint, reality-based impression that the president cares about Social Security or economic growth.

How do you people live with this neverending stream of bullshit from that president of yours? I would go fucking insane if I lived there. Good luck to you, especially if he somehow manages making his gift to the exceedingly wealthy, er tax cuts, permananent.

Mr F, we’re all nuts. That’s the only way we can manage.

Al Gore should leave the padded room, try to get himself invited onto This Week With George Snuffluppagus etc. and start screaming “fuzzy math” in public. He’s been extremely impressive lately whenever he’s spoken out.
Same with Paul Krugman.
