Not Funny

I dislike Bill Kristol as much as the next guy, but this “pie in the face” trend has really gotten out of hand. It was sorta funny at first, but if there’s a fine line between slaptick comedy and assault, then this has definitely crossed it :

Shit, these screenshots look more like the Zapruder film than the traditional goofy looks that traditionally accompany these pie stories. Say what you will about the neocons, physically attacking someone because you disagree with them is wrong no matter which side of the aisle you fall on.

  1. Kristol is a jerk, but I fail to see how throwing a pie in his face accomplishes anything.

  2. This throwing pies and shoes and salad dressing is childish. Some people react in frustration from an inferiority complex. They could put their enery into research and writing but hey, that’s daRwinism.

There are more thoughtful avenues of expression.

  3. For a minute, I thought I was witnessing a community theatre production of David Cronenberg’s Scanners!

  5. Sorry about the double post. Hmmm, moi must have been in a bad mood to post that disturbing pic, pardon moi. Of course Bill K couldn’t see it cuz of the attack as reported by “the next guy.”

Here’s a link of more photos from the “scanner” event:

A reduction in pragmatism probably leads to failure, a abscense of pragmatism leads to delusion.

  6. methinks these screen shots might be a tad misleading.

come on, it’s not like it was a brick pie… was it?

  7. Are these the same guys that hit Bill Gates with a pie? C’mon, how cool is that? A little whipped cream never hurt anybody, but it makes the point that the victim is a clown who deserves to be laughed at. Now, if food fights start breaking out on the Senate floor or something, I’ll agree that things have gotten out of hand.
