I agree, Lancaster.

The Bushies are practicing the Big Lie, and it’s wearing thin. They are pretending that they want to bring the troops home in order to shut us up, but the people who read the news understand that their purpose was to create a permanent US military presence there.

The only way to beat the Big Lie is to call attention to it. An open and frank discussion of the merits of mid-East conquest would help to do that.

The question has never been raised seriously. Not during the push for war, not during the last election.

Let’s get this out on the table and discuss it honestly. Do we, as Americans, endorse and support the policy of world dominance, or do we seek some other course?

It would be an interesting conversation.
