In Defense of Michelle Malkin

Let me go on record as saying this this isn’t funny. In fact, I think it’s pretty fucked up :

MichelleMaglalang.com

Should I bother pointing out that Ms. Malkin’s next book, Unhinged : Exposing Liberals Gone Wild, is all about “the utter hypocrisy of Democrats who fashion themselves as role models of tolernace and civility”? Thanks for giving her more ammo for her book tour.

But that’s not why having a fake URL leading to a Google search for the terms “Michelle Malkin” and “whore” is a bad idea. The real reason is because people who are serious about politics shouldn’t be acting like fucking children. If you really wanna hit her where it hurts, I’d suggest redirecting that URL to something like this.

A few additional points to make :

  • I’m almost positive that MichelleMaglalang.com wasn’t registered by somebody on the right to embarrass liberals. I’m not going to give out the person’s info, but a little research showed that this is the product of someone on our side.

  • What’s the deal with throwing around her former surname (Maglalang) anyways? Did she change it to seem less “ethnic” or did she just marry some nutcase named Albert? Either way, it doesn’t seem like that big a dis.
  • Yes, I know a few on the right have used the word “whore” to describe Cindy Sheehan, but the examples I’ve seen have actually been as part of the term “media whore”. I still strongly disagree with that, but there’s a big difference between a media whore and the “sucking dick for crack money” variety.
  • Finally, before any conservatives want to use this little incident to defame the left, let me remind you that there’s much worse stuff to be found on any given day in the comments sections of the Free Republic or Little Green Footballs. I suppose you could even write a book about it, but what kind of hack would do something like that?

UPDATE : Kudos to the domain owner for updating the redirect to something more appropriate. I think the new destination will be far more effective criticism than simple name-calling.

    1. heyheyhey!
A lot of hookers really resent being associated with crack whores! In the words of one: “I ain’t no crack whore – I was a hooker before I started smokin’ crack!” They have no respect for women who became whores because of crack.
      Damn, man. Have some sensitivity!

    2. My memory is that the Maglalang thing started when someone noticed that her last book had that name on the copyright page. I think the implication was that she’s trying to de-ethnicize herself for her overwhelmingly white conservative fanbase.

A public figure choosing to use an easier-to-pronounce name, especially if it’s a married name, isn’t a big deal IMO. There are many more legitimate reasons to dislike her.

    3. Agreed. Criticize her for her inane and hypocritical views. But don’t attack her with sexist or racial insults. It just gives her more validity in saying liberals are evil, racist, bla bla bla…

    4. Not to mention that Racism and Sexism, being wrong, shouldn’t pop up from people on our side. Of course, I’m personally all about Ad hominem attacking – I just think it’s better to call her an irresponsible, lying, talentless hack, and leave racist sexism to the pros on the right.

    5. Agreed. The racist comments that go her way are cheap and easy shots. And every racist comment misses the opportunity to mock her for so, so many other valid reasons.

    6. Malkin’s husband’s name isn’t Albert, it’s Jesse. In fact, the guy who runs MalkinWatch thinks that Jesse is ghostwriting many of her columns.

    7. The problem with Democrats the last decade is that they’ve turned into a bunch of pansies.

The right does this shit every day and Dems cry and go “boo-hoo! – Look what they did!” And the right just keeps on doing it.

Look what Rush said today about Cindy Sheehan. Let’s hear how fucked up that is.

This mild compared to what should be put up there.

    8. The maiden name thing is because she criticized some feminists for using their maiden names professionally, but she still hasn’t actually changed her legal name. She claims she just hasn’t gotten around to it.

    9. “Role models of tolerance and civility”? Not this liberal.

The entire notion that we’re supposed to be “sensitive” and “courteous” is erected to portray us as patsies. Never have been never will.
And I’m talking over 50 years of dealing with their shit.

Don’t back down. Keep advancing. Don’t apologize. Kick the bitch. Hard. Kick her again. And again. And again. When she complains, ask her about her family and the Marcos regime. How many murder did she personally witness, and did she get off on watching people die in screaming agony.

    10. It’s a nice comparison she makes, isn’t it?

Leading liberal commentator, Duncan Black, has unsavory comments on his site from nasty liberals.

      versus

Leading conservative commentators are in lock step across the medium spectrum making nasty and unsavory comments.

What hypocrites liberals are to complain.

It’s the same as the hitler commercial on moveon. We allow open dialogue and somebody goes over the line and that somebody’s name is irrelevant: the actions become those of the organization that allowed open access. How dare we.

    11. Where did it originally link to? Both links link to the same place for me now…

    12. The link now seems to redirect to http://www.pbs.org/childofcamp/ . A much better use of the domain name, imho.

    13. no one is suggesting backing down, and being wimpy, but greg’s right about the tone of some of those comments – be mean, just not racist or sexist.
