Ahh for the fair weather of LA to ride in . . . . I'm a scooter rider myself, though in the rougher environs of New York City. Don't know much about the Baron - I have an Italjet 125 myself, which I now regret buying to some degree as they went out of business last year, so body parts will be scarce in the future. But the engine is Piaggio, so that much should be easy. Can't emphasize enough how much I like the large wheel base, though, which is also to be found on the Aprilia Scarabeo and other 125-150cc Aprilia models. If your streets are as beautifully maintained as the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway (cough cough) you'll thank yourself for not riding an 8" wheel base.

Don't you just love how GWB is trying to take a page out of his Iraq playbook? He claims he's defending "the people saving lives." But no one's attacking the first responders for the Administration's failures of coordination and planning, any more than critics of the war in Iraq are attacking the troops for the Administration's failures. It's the faults of Bush and his Administration, not of the people on the ground, that are at issue.

Are you kidding me? At this point, even the Knicks are better than the Democrats at picking up on thier oponents mistakes. While I don't think it's appropriate to be so pragmatic as to see a disaster like Katrina as an opportunity for political gain, I do think that now is the perfect time to point out that the failures on the federal level in Katrina came from a man who was not really qualified for his job. If there is anything that you could cite as a constant failure in this administration, it is the administration's insistence on placing unqualified people in important positions. Cronyism exists in all administrations, no doubt, but I've never seen it as disastrous as it has been in this administration.

Wow, I've been reading this site for a while, I didn't know there were scooter riders involved. I ride vintage Vespas (although I did just buy a 1972 Yamaha 2-stroke motorcycle). If you're considering Baron, you may already know about "the BBS" www.scooterbbs.com. Go to the "international new scooter bbs".

My opinion, steer clear of Baron unless you live near a dealer you trust to work on them. Now why doesn't Honda make the Elite 150 anymore?
