He was encouraged to join the Boy Scouts to be more "normal" and took up taxidermy. It came time for the annual show, and he had done all kinds of stuff like two-headed squirrels and raccoons locked in mortal combat. It really freaked everybody out, they said he was sick. But, really, once you're stuffing animals, why not get a little creative? BTW - he only did roadkills - no hunting. I can't remember where I read it, I think it might have been in Probe.
