Chill dude, the term is only 3 days old and you are already annoyed by it?
On the other hand. Holy shit! It’s only 3 days old and you get 24,400 hits?!? That’s one spicy meatball!

It’s a Festivus for the restivus.
“Now is the time for the airing of the grievances. I gotta a lotta problems with you people!”

I think any time we start taking joy in something as awful as treason, it’s sickening.
Don’t get me wrong. If Libby or Rove or Hammond or Bush or anybody has a hand in the Plame outing, then I’ll be happy to see them go away.
But if we focus on it because they’re Republicans, aren’t we just as bad as the people who paint all liberals with the same brush?
(I know, I know — after a while, it gets tiring being the only ones taking the high road, but still.)
Good for my party or bad, if there’s a criminal act happening, I think it should be prosecuted. Same for the Republicans. If anything, the ought to be happy that the criminal and manipulative elements of their party are being filtered out.

The Bush administration is the most evil administration in history. It has done more harm to the American people than Nixon and makes the Nixon and Reagan Administrations look like a bunch of fumbling amateurs compared to what the Bushies have been able to accomplish. And this my friends is what makes them so dangerous. Just look at the “accomplishments” While I agree with Dr. Pants that graft and corruption should be winnowed out of both parties, clearly this particular bunch of republicans have lead us so far down the road towards fascism and to a police state that I am not sure that we can ever really and truly recover. Consequently, I am in favor of completely dismantling the republican regime and crippling it for generations. It is simply a much too dangerous ideological threat to democracy to allow it to retain any power whatsoever.
Upon completion of these objectives it would then be appropriate to enact sweeping social and political reforms on both sides of the aisle so that no single party can ever again accomplish these kinds of egregious, criminal and immoral atrocities through the abuse of power, priviledge and propaganda ever again.
Unfortunately, I have very little faith in the American people as a whole. Critical thinking skills seem to be completely lacking in over half the population, that is if you believe the elections were not stolen first by the supreme court in 2000 and secondly by Diebold, ES&S, ad nauseum in 2004.
GW claims that God speaks to him. I do believe that he is being spoken to and I believe that there is someone sitting on his shoulder, whispering in his ear, but it’s not the God of love, Justice and Forgiveness that I know.
This is going to be a pivotal week for this country.
Thanks for the great site and the opportunity to express my opinion.

I have to admit, and I am sorry to show my non-worldliness here, but this year is the first time I’ve really been hearing the term…
Count me in as NOT annoyed just yet

“Fitzmas” gives the right-wing pundits a talking point for damn sure, and is annoying on its own merits anyway. How about something that doesn’t incorporate Fitzgerald’s moniker? A naming competition might be in order here… I nominate the crappy “Operation Finite Justice.”

it’s not “joy in treason”
it’s joy that not all is lost with the system
good news has been rare the last few years
also, the term only works preceeded by “It’s beginning to look a lot like…” in your best Perry Como

I like the term. I agree we shouldn’t take joy in criminal activity, but we’re not the ones out there saying “it’s just politics.” Any joy I feel is that some of these criminals might get punished for their deeds.

How about eXmas?
All Gallows’ Eve?
Oktoberfrist?
Mirth Day?

Yes, you are.
this is not about celebrating the crimes, its all about the scheudenfreud (however the hell you spell it) Its about what comes around going around. Its about seeing the arrogant WHIG scurry and wet themselves at the prospect of being called to account.
Merry Fitzmas!

I can forgive the exuberance, and the Fitz-related wordplay. Any and all annoyance about it will be forgiven, if justice gets done.
Meanwhile, how ’bout some alternatives:
Feliz Nav-indictment?
Yule of Law?
Let’s all sing! Up on the hilltop, Novak squeals… don’t like that one?
Okay, then… Rove’s nuts roasting on an open fire…

Yeah, it’s too close to Shitsmas.

Nope. I think it sucks too. The first time I read it, it was out of context an I had no idea what the hell it even meant. Then a few minutes later, when made clear, my reaction was, “that’s pretty fuckin stupid.”
“Treason’s Greetings” on the other hand, is brilliant.

It’s annoying, but it sums things up perfectly. It’s seeing the light at the end of the tunnel move closer and closer.

You are spot on! It’s inevitable though. Catch phrases created around big events are what they are.
I think it’s possible to feel a sense of happiness regarding criminal behavior being finally prosecuted. It’s a correct response.
What the Democrats do with this for the 2006 elections will be important.
