Culture of Corruption

Josh Marshall has a great catch from the indictment.

On or about June 12, 2003, LIBBY was advised by the Vice President of the United States that Wilson’s wife worked at the Central Intelligence Agency in the Counterproliferation Divison. LIBBY understood that the Vice President had learned this information from the CIA.

This is a crucial piece of information. the Counterproliferation Division (CPD) is part of the CIA’s Directorate of Operations, i.e., not Directorate of Intelligence, the branch of the CIA where ‘analysts’ come from, but where the spies come from.

This is even worse when taken with Josh’s earlier reaction to the indictment :

If you read the recitation of events which takes up, roughly, the first half of the indictment, one thing is made very clear: Libby was in communication about what he was doing with all sorts of people at the White House while he was doing it.

There’s a reason Fitzgerald continually referred to “national security” in the press release, indictment, and press conference. This affair has harmed our nation and the White House is complicit.

One can only hope that these loose ends are tied into a noose…

  1. “Tied in a noose around your neck, Greg.”
Mary Jo White, Fitzgerald’s former boss, said of him “… his strength lies in how he exercises his power with real recognition of how awesome it is.”
    CodeSpeak for:This guy’s turned a ham sandwich
in the whale of his lifetime. And he freakin well means to reel it in and mount it on his wall.
As for Fitzgerald’s spin:”I’m red, white, blue and a Regis moralist, says he. My noble calling is to protect this nation from threat. Not the threat of terrorists blowing up our country. That’s unpopular.Hell. I ain’t gonna bring the press and liberal lunies down on me. I mean the threat to our security when it was revealed that Plame (who was already dropped from active service)was CIA (a pronouncement her husband made routinely).
Wasn’t a threat when Wilson routinely said it. Only when Libby did. Right. Sure.
But we all know the truth. You don’t admit that Wilson’s a nobody, symbolically not even a lil killy potentially on Fitz’s wall. While Libby, a Cheney Bush advisor is a somebody–and potentially that whale on Fitz’s wall he could boast into infinity.
Wake up Greg. We all know it’s not Libby you want. Your transparent secret you slobbering libs are really salivating for is to bring Bush down to Clinton’s level.T’ain’t gonna happen dude.
As you libs chorus “AL-LE-LEU-YAH and BE-GOR-YAH!” Bush lobbied and got Jesus on his side!
That too. But more soberly, however, what Bush really has on his side is character. If he makes a mistake, it’s in the line of duty and not because he has a chic under his desk servicing his … The activity whose vision brings Clinton close to your sleazy little hearts.
