I find it amazing to stumble upon this posting just looking up “what is santa wary of”. I didn’t expect to see a man pulverized with print. I’m glad to see everyone express their opinion so freely though. It is what makes this country so great. I do not know who this O’reily guy is, because I don’t have time to watch tv, but why is it we attack anyone that doesn’t agree with us? And with the show of how many different stories were posted on how the traditions of Christmas were started, I would say that everyone is a moron and noone really knows the exact history. The only one thing we are sure of is that it is to celebrate the birth of Jesus. If people want to put up a tree, buy gifts for those they love, help out those in need, and spread a little joy, well, then what’s wrong with that?

How ironic that O’Really? and his enablers have managed to turn a holiday intended to honor the Prince of Peace into a three-ring circus of contention. But what do you expect from people who think that dropping bombs on innocent foreigners is an effective way to bring democracy to their country and Christianity to their benighted Islamic souls?

For the record, I recall from my childhood (I was born in 1944) people greeting each other with “Happy Holidays” ‘way back in those more innocent (for me, anyway) times. There is even a song from back then titled “Happy Holidays.”

So, good people, let us leave the likes of Bill O’Rantly to stew in their Christmas grog, and raise a toast to religious tolerance and peace on earth any day now….

Take it one step further. If you look at Wikipedia's Christmas page you can a lot of good information of the start of the celebration and rituals. The interesting thing is that many of the so called "Christian" rituals are actually pagan rituals that were adopted by Christian missionaries in an attempt to aid in conversion of pagans to Christianity.
So things like "the Christmas tree, the Christmas ham, the Yule Log, holly, mistletoe, and the giving of presents" are actual pagan customs that should have no place in Christianity.
Not to mention that Santa Claus and present exchange is in memory of a bishop and has nothing to do with Christ.
I find it amazing that Bill O'Slander can complain about liberals and the atheists stealing Christmas when the Christmas traditions seem so inter-faith to begin with.
Anyone notice a similarity between the Jewish festival of lights and the tradition of Christmas lights?

Conservative men get a boner thinking about how great it would be going back to our Christian roots, just like in olden times when this country was founded. According to your history Greg it follows that we should not be celebrating Christmas and anyone who does is unpatriotic (and the terrorists win). Someone needs to stick a Christmas tree up Bill O”Reilly’s ass. God bless us everyone.

This attack on christmas campaign is simply the religious right bullying the rest of us. If they can get the public to fall into line using merry christmas instead of happy holidays in the mall, later they can get prayer in schools, creative design and eventually the final solution.

Stand up to bullys. You’ll see what they’re made of.

As an Oklahoman I want to point out that we are all not insane like Rep. Terrill. We don’t eat small children for breakfast either. I hate it when our elected officials pull stupid stunts and leave the rest of us with our heads hanging in utter shame.
