Yeah, Mike, I agree.

We DO need to stop paying these people. . .but we ARE easy pickin’s. Most people, I’m convinced, are almost completely unaware of what Tommy did.

And David, come on. You’re entitled to your opinion, but your cynicism is pointless.

You should be trying to bridge the gap between reasonable, caring Christians (like our good poster, Greg, an admitted atheist is trying to do. Great work!)and other groups rather than spreading hate . What was your comment if not merely quoting out of context and intolerant? Painting us ALL as being intolerant and only concerned for material needs is more of a reflection on YOUR values, not ours.

Another Gotca’ Game. A thieving politician mentions he did it for Jesus and the WHOLE NET starts preaching and anti-preaching. No wonder they steal trillions ( I wonder what the next set of zeros is called) of dollars off of us, let’s face it, FELLOW TAXPAYERS, we’re EASY pickins. No, FELLOW TAXPAYERS, ole Tommy quit because of SERIOUS LEGAL PROBLEMS. Always trust your crime partner and best friend to roll over on you first. Tommy’s looking at ten years dating Bubba, so he’s a little on edge now and probably no fun at campaign suppers. I don’t know about the rest of you , but I need to quit paying these people.

You forgot a few:

Mark 16:16 – He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.

I’m not being snarky for the hell of it; I really, honestly, truly think that intelligent people should stop giving credence to a grab-bag of vague platitudes as if it has anything important to say. For every line that speaks to the hippie in all of us, there’s another that represents the worst in intolerance and provincial-minded nastiness.

The only reason anyone, liberal Methodist or reactionary Pentecostal, cares at all is because they think it’s the ticket to eternal paradise. Make them doubt that, and no one will give a hoot what somebody in the desert two millenia ago had to say about anything, just like they don’t care what Confucius or Lao Tzu said – there’s nothing in it for them.
