They should outlaw the wearing of the flag as scarves, thongs, jogging pants, flip flops. Why is there no outcry about that? Oh yeah, the republicans are doing it.

Write your senator and tell them to support my American Flag as an alternative fuel bill. Heat your home this winter with a small american flag stove.

Fienstien almost convinced me to vote for a Republcan, namely Tom Campbell, who is actually rather liberal for an (R). (He opposed the War on Drugs for one.) I ended up voting for the Green candidate, Medea Benjamin.

Yeah, I heard the little speech that Feinstein gave about it on the radio. What an ass! I wish she hadn't been so damn safe in her primary.

I'm totally against an anti-flag desecration amendment, but I'm willing to compromise: Criminalize flying the Stars n' Bars, and I'll agree to a law criminalizing desecrating the Stars and Stripes.

Any takers?

Yea:
Baucus (D-MT)
Bayh (D-IN)
Dayton (D-MN)
Feinstein (D-CA)
Johnson (D-SD)
Landrieu (D-LA)
Lincoln (D-AR)
Menendez (D-NJ)
Nelson (D-FL)
Nelson (D-NE)
Reid (D-NV)
Rockefeller (D-WV)
Salazar (D-CO)
Stabenow (D-MI)

Some people are probably going to defend these fourteen Democrats as being from "Red States" (including my jerkass senator from Montana). But what the fuck is Dianne Feinstein doing on there?

And, crossing over from the other side of the aisle:
Nay:
McConnell (R-KY)

Thank you, Mitch McConnell, for being less of a dick than my own Democratic representative.

What I remember reading somewhere, (unfortunatly I don't remember where,) was that there are probably about seven senators who would probably vote against the Flag Burning ammendment if it was necessary to prevent its passage, but are too cowardly to stand up for their beleifs, lest they accused of being "unpatriotic" by their political opponents. The real question here is when did standing up for Liberty become unpatrotic? The Patriots of revolution didn't rembell to defend the flag, they didn't even have one at the time. The fought and died for Liberty. Other than Mark Pryor, not a single Southern senator opposed the ammendment. Yet their ancestors were perfectly happy to tear down the Stars and Stripes throughout the South, even wage war against their own country, to protect themselves against what they (wrongly, in my view,) precevied as a threat to their Liberty. No American flags were threatened in France or elsewhere in Europe during the World Wars, yet we went over there to protect Liberty. Congress should be concerned with protecting our Liberty and Freedom of Speech. That's what America is about, not a colorful peice of cloth.
