Is any one besides me familiar with Monty Pythons “The Meaning Of Life”? “Every sperm is sacred. Every sperm is great. If a sperm is wasted, God gets quite irate!” It’s being sung by Micheal Palin; he’s a roman catholic explaining to his 80 bejillion kids why he can’t use birth control, so they all have to be sold for medical experiments because he can’t afford to feed them! This should be the Bush anthem.

Every sperm is sacred, every sperm is great. If a sperm is wasted God gets quite irate. Let the heathens spill theirs on the dusty ground. God will make them pay for each sperm that can’t be found. Every sperm is wanted, every sperm is good, every sperm is needed in your neighborhood. Somehow Monty Python foresaw the comming of GWB.

Every month I name my egg and pray for it and think about the 1/2 baby that is there. Then I cry when menses comes knowing that my 1/2 baby is in the toilet. At first I’m in denial, then the anger sets in (damning God for murdering my 1/2 baby). I bargain with God- “next time let it be me,” I ask. I’m depressed for several days and then I come to accept it… And this repeats monthly because I have morals and this is a black/white issue.

I don’t know if it’s so much a matter of a flip-flop or inconsistent position as it just stupid, like if FDR had claimed he was the first President to take on the Nazis. Well, duh. If something (like stem cell research or Nazis) doesn’t exist in any major form prior to your term, and you’re the first person who could support it, even paltry support makes you “first”.

The thing is, by this logic, those of us who are opposed to the war in Iraq should have the right to not have our tax dollars support it. But I somehow don’t think that that’s what this stammering prick has in mind.

Did you see how Snow backed off his “murder” statement yesterday? These guys need to get their rigid idealogies straight.

Certainly I support the funding of the research. Hell, fund the hell out of it. Clone those embryos if you have to.

And to the minority of folks who can’t handle their tax dollars funding it, I say “shut the f up.” I, and a majority of the country don’t want our tax dollars going over to Iraq.

Alright, I gotta jump in on this clip. This position Bolten is trying to defend is patently absurd. And Russert is doing a bang-up job pointing it out.

I could almost get on board with Bolten/Bush when he talks about not using tax-payer dollars for this research if so many people oppose it.

Almost.

But Russert is hammering him on the “murder” angle, and it’s great. If it’s murder, it’s black and white. All or nothing. Fully funded research or no research at all. What the hell is this half-assed bullshit position Bush is trying to carve out…
