I agree that Baker has no credibility, but since they wanted to delay the release until after the election, it must contain something bad for them politically, or else they would have released it before. If they just wanted cover, then they would have released it right when it was ready, to make themselves look good right before an election. Hard to say exactly what’s going on here…

I think this whole thing is just an effort to provide political cover for Dubya. The blue-ribbon group will say we need to get out of Iraq so he doesn’t have to.

Why are they still afraid of Bush II? He’s a lame duck. He’s got popularity numbers that would make The Black Plague embarrassed. Seriously, why not just tear the bastard down publicly and hope that the next Republican along can run on the “Well, I’m not George W Bush” platform?

No science here… the same guys were in Nixon’s cabinet. The real truth of the matter is we really don’t want to believe their brainstorming sessions are more inclined to include phrases like “naw, we got caught for that before; we better try something else.” instead of “this is America, dammit, and that’s not how we act in America”.
