Remember how crazy Republicans went over the idea that the little boy would be seized from his relative's home by a SWAT team sent by Janet Reno? To paraphrase Stalin: one Elian Gonzalez is a tragedy; a million Elian Gonzalezes is a statistic. (just to be clear: I can't say I agreed with the whole Gonzalez thing at the time, although nobody asked me). That picture reminded me of Elian Gonzalez.
