If you’re too lazy to search for the “specifics”, it doesn’t mean they aren’t there.
In response to Barack Obama’s remarkable speech about racism in America, one of the neanderthals at The Corner couldn’t resist printing an email referring to Obama as a “race hustler” and making this Hillary Clinton-inspired claim :
I’ve always known that Obama was a con artist because when you don’t offer up ANY specifics during a campaign it’s usually because you either don’t have any core beliefs or your core beliefs are nutty.
This line of attack really annoys me. Obama doesn’t offer any specifics? Barack Obama’s website has a 64 page “Blueprint for Change” and has twenty sub-sections that cover a host of additional issues. If that’s not enough, there’s also Obama’s 384 page book “The Audacity of Hope”. It’s amazing to me that so many of Barack Obama’s detractors seem to be too foolish to find the policy details they claim to be searching for.

Maybe Obama’s detractors need to change their line to “I haven’t seen any specifics.” Then they can keep their eyes closed and it will still be true.
But I think a lot of Obama’s support comes in spite of specifics. People are attracted to him not because he has the most technical detail (that’s Edwards’ department) but because he communicates a grasp of the big picture.
Running for chief executive isn’t really about having the most detailed and comprehensive policy, it’s about establishing a set of priorities. The specifics are going to come from Congress anyway, so the president’s job is making a clear set of parameters about what kind of legislation will and won’t be accepted (that’s why it’s called “policy”).

Senator Obama’s speech addressing the nonsense
over Reverd Wright was a work of art, delivered with dignity, understanding, and consideration for the nation as a whole.I admit,I have never read the Senators book,I have visited his website, which is full of details concerning the “major” issues. As a voter my “major” issues are,the militarization of civil police, mass incarceration of non-violent citizens, and the need to overturn the legislation created by the Bush regime, which was designed to destroy the rights of ordinary Americans.I have found few specifics on these issues from Senator Obama, healtcare, education, and foreign policy are important, but pale in comparison to the preservation of our basic freedoms.Senator Obama is an amazing candidate, perhaps he will address these issuses in the furture.
