Mis-Leader
I knew if I dragged my feet long enough someone would make a bulleted list from that PIPA survey showing how uinformed Bush supporters are about Bush’s actual positions (via DailyKos) :
75% believe Iraq was providing substantial support to al Qaeda. 74% believe Bush favors including labor and environmental standards in agreements on trade. 72% believe Iraq had WMD or a program to develop them. 72% believe Bush supports the treaty banning landmines. 69% believe Bush supports the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty. 61% believe if Bush knew there were no WMD he would not have gone to war. 60% believe most experts believe Iraq was providing substantial support to al Qaeda. 58% believe the Duelfer report concluded that Iraq had either WMD or a major program to develop them. 57% believe that the majority of people in the world would prefer to see Bush reelected. 56% believe most experts think Iraq had WMD. 55% believe the 9/11 report concluded Iraq was providing substantial support to al Qaeda. 51% believe Bush supports the Kyoto treaty. 20% believe Iraq was directly involved in 9/11.
Should I even bother pointing out the irony that Bush’s answer to everything during the last debate was his educational programs, yet his supporters don’t know shit about him? Perhaps it’s time for a “Leave No Voter Behind” program to educate people about their choices. Then again, it’s really in the President’s best interest to keep the electorate as dumb as possible.

I’ve been spending so much time on blogs that I was absolutely floored to hear a friend, a ‘conservative’ Dem, tell everyone at the coffee shop that we had to go to Iraq because Saddam attacked us in NYC.
I did correct her (ummmm, I believe it was OBL) but she responded with, well, they’re all connected. This person is very well-educated and extremely intelligent, which tells me how effective the propaganda push has been, even here in Santa Monica. Scary cuz it’s not just the Repubs in the Midwest that believe those things.
