Bush’s Id
Here’s some revealing words from a Bush supporter :
So, George W. Bush won. And he?s done so by a solid margin. The Democrats? attempted coup managed to last all of eight hours. Not only is the President the first candidate to win a majority of the vote in a Presidential Election since 1988, but he also won more popular votes than any other candidate in history. The Democrats spent months telling us that high voter turnout would equal a win for them but, as it turns out, when 60% of the electorate showed up at the polls it translated into a Bush lead of nearly four million votes. In short: take that, you sons of bitches. The Democrats are now talking about how this is a signal that Bush should ?bring the country together?. Translated into American, this means ?now that you?ve won, you should surrender to us.? The hell with that. We?ve won. Winning means not having to say you?re sorry. Bush already brought a majority of Americans together: they voted for him. He doesn?t need to reach out to them: they need to reach out to him.
If anyone needs to work to ?bring the country together? it?s those on the left who have divided it so badly. Those who sought to destroy this great man should get down upon their knees and beg the victors for mercy. And maybe, just maybe, we?ll let a few of them linger on for the simple reason that they amuse us. My life?s goal is to see the Democratic party virtually obliterated and left as a rump of people like Stephanie Herseth who both mostly agree with us anyways and are easy on the eyes.
That?s the future of the Democratic party: providing Republicans with a number of cute (but not that bright) comfort women.
Let?s face a hard truth: this was the bitterest Presidential campaign in living memory. The Democrats and their allies staked everything on the defeat of this President. All of the resources they had accumulated over a generation of struggle were thrown into this battle: and they have failed. Despite all of their tricks, despite all of their lies, the people have rejected them. They mean nothing. They are worth nothing. There?s no point in trying to reach out to them because they won?t be reached out to. We?ve got their teeth clutching the sidewalk and out boot above their head. Now?s the time to curb-stomp the bastards.
The only reason the red states decide our elections and are overrepresented in our legislative branch is because the Founding Fathers gave in to Anti-Federalists who wanted protection from the “tyranny of the majority”. Now that they’ve got a claim to the majority, it’s open war on 48% of America. Forgive me if I’m not feeling very “gracious” today.

I’m sure your point here is that if the Democrats had won by the same numbers, the Electoral system would still be unfair and the Democrats would be waging “open war” on the other 48%.
I’m no fan of the electoral system as it stands today, but, as I said yesterday, its some major sour grapes to whine about the rules after the game is over. If it really bugs you that bad, turn this BLOG into a grass-roots campaign to abolish the electoral system. Heck, I’d probably join you!
As for the blogger quoted, he’s a bit over-zealous. But so’s a blogger who would make a film calling the President of the United States “Whistle-Ass”.

Here’s something I wrote about the EC ten days ago :
Democrats have been marginalized for well over a decade now, so even if they had won the White House and both houses of Congress, the institutional strength of the conservative movement would make it all but impossible to wage an “open war” on the right.
There’s a difference between wanting to “curb-stomp the bastards” and a little joke based on the dying words of an old woman.

Hey Keith, the blogger quoted is talking about political total destruction of the opposition, and implying violent retribution. How is that in anyway similar?
Go back under your bridge troll.

I’m still trying to figure out how the Left is responsible for dividing the country.. hmm.. sounds like me and my brother “you are - no, YOU are.”
And Keith, don’t call that blogger “a bit overzealous.” You should be ashamed of yourself.

“Go back under your bridge troll”
Keith’s not a troll, he’s an old friend of mine. I think he, like Earnest, should be a welcome voice from the other side in the comments section of Greg’s site.

More evidence they aren’t conservatives.
They’re fascists.
Hide in the cities and know who your friends are.

Well, troll or not, what he said was total B.S. I welcome commentary from the other side, not lazy false dichotomy that seeks to make criticism on one side equivalent to facist fantasy on the other. What that blogger said was scary, and I’ll have no truck with enablers who seem to have no problem with that kind of thing.

Adam Yoshida is Canadian, not American, which means that he will never have to suffer the consequences of another four Bush years — unless, of course, he enlists in the U.S. military, as people who follow his blog say he has threatened to do.
They also say that he is unemployed, uneducated, and lives with his parents. Could it be true?

My heart is broken for our country, our soldiers and all those who struggle day to day to make it in this country. As a society we are supposed to be better than what that man represents in his writing. The republican party is all about what can this country do for me. They seem to have no interest in the common good. They are the most vocal about loving Jesus and the least willing to follow his teachings, if they even understand them. The Democrats are just the opposite and we shouldn’t be ashamed of it.

Thanks for the defense, Tom.
As for “violent retribution”, give me a break. The guy seems to be an idiot on the face of this “column”, but he doesn’t exactly sound violent to me. And please don’t lecture me about being an idealogue. I came here to argue because of my new-found respect for Greg. I hope he shares that respect for me.
Anyone who doesn’t, however, can learn to deal with it. To coin a phrase, “I’m here, I’m conservative, get used to it.”
Oh! And I’m a meat-eating Texan whose wife stays home to raise our child. You know, she doesn’t have a “real job” (staying home was her own choice, incidentally).

Oh, and Ross—the fact that you have to resort to name-calling says LOADS about your ability to carry on an intelligent conversation.

Let’s step back a bit. I’ll take back calling you a troll, since you’re Tom’s freind and he vouches for you. But your comparing joking criticism, to fantasies about boot parties, was bullshit. You don’t have to agree with me politcally, to see the difference in tone, intellect, and intention between the two. And I stand by that.
For the record, I happen to support the second amendment, I eat meat, and I stay at home to raise the kids so my husband can - Oh dammit, that last one isn’t right.
Now all my hetero cred is gone. Fuck.

My biggest complaint is the beginning of the third sentence: “The Democrats? attempted coup..” There was no coup, there was no attempt. There was an ELECTION and in America we have them on a national level every four years to avoid dictatorships and coups and bloody revolutions. Apparently, the writer would prefer a dictatorship where all opposition was crushed, killed, or destroyed. Isn’t removal of a dictatorship regime one of the reasons we’ve been given for our presence in Iraq? This person doesn’t want to bring freedom to Iraq, he/she wants to bring Iraq here.

Enjoy your America, Keith! Now Domestic Polcy is subject to “the Pottery Barn rule,” too. With total control, you own everything you break. Have fun, and see you in two years.

This person calls Democratic women “comfort women”? These are the people who have taken over the country. Their contempt for women shows in every one of their articles. I don’t know what to say.

A violent,”We?ve got their teeth clutching the sidewalk and out boot above their head. Now?s the time to curb-stomp the bastards.”, misogynist,”That?s the future of the Democratic Party: providing Republicans with a number of cute (but not that bright) comfort women.”
Is this the morally superior right?
This is disgusting. If you can’t condemn this, you really are some piece of work.
