These turncoats sided with the Republican party and the Bush administration in favor of using torture as an interrogation tactic. I don’t care why they did it or how much they vow to side with the party in the future, as far as I’m concerned we need to purge these appeasers from the party as soon as possible.

  1. I can’t agree more. Now the question is strategy. Should we concentrate on the weaker ones, who will certainly be replaced by a republican should be bumpt them off in the next primary (even though it would serve them right, and us for trusting them, it would suck to lose the seat)? Or on true Bastards like Holy Joe, who have safe dem seats.

    In the meantime, because I’m feeling cheesy, perhaps we ought to start referring to efforts to take these people down as “asteroids” or “comets”. You know, because our goal is to take out the DINOs.

  9. Thought I’d share what I wrote to Sen. Lieberman this morning:

    Senator Lieberman,

    Please let us all know when you plan to announce that you are changing your party affiliation to the Republican party. Your vote for the confirmation of Alberto Gonzales confirms what I have suspected for quite a while - since your presidential run you have become more and more out of touch with the needs of your constituency and Americans as a whole. You cannot possibly believe that confirming someone who called the Geneva Convention “quaint” serves anyone but yourself. Perhaps you think that restricting personal freedoms in this country is the “price we pay” for safety. Perhaps you believe, as our President surely does, that the US Government is above all law - Domestic, International, and even the Laws of God. You could not be more wrong. As the world ’shrinks’ through communication, trade, and technological advances, we are going to be held more and more accountable for our actions. And you, a man who is a practicing Jew, the child of Holocost survivors, should know better than anyone else what the cost of torture is, what happens when the State is allowed to decide what is in the best interest of its citizens. Shame on you. Shame.

    Perhaps you think that no one will notice how you’ve sold out Democracy and your party. I, for one, noticed, and you’re up for re-election next year. Take a look around your office, because I’m going to do everything in my power to make sure that this is the last year you see the inside of it. The media will report, and the voters will know, how wrong a choice you are as a Senator, let alone a “Democrat” from Connecticut.

  10. Tactically, go for the safe seats. Especially Lieberman, if he gets through the Primary, the party should let him crash, no money, no volunteers, no resources.

    Hell, if he makes it through the Primary, depending on the how things look and who the competition was, I’d even consider giving some turkee to the competition. But we should at least make an example of him, if anyone.

  12. Note the tie-in with Bush Social Security visits to N. Dakota, Nebraska, Arkansas, and Florida. These guys are being targeted, and they know it - so this was a chance to kiss butt. Which makes them cowards. Even Conrad in N. Dakota who tried to weasel out by not voting at all. And I personally would like an explanation from those senators who voted for Condi but against Alberto. Too much voting along race or gender lines. Did the two female senators in my state (WA) and Barack vote for Condi for the same reasons Salazar voted for Alberto?

  14. Normally I’d agree with Mars. Unfortunately, Republicans actually like being out and proud as supporters of torture. Conservatives of every nation are always the first to embrace terror, I mean, facism, I mean freedom enhancing practices, I mean freedom.

    We shouldn’t mince words with them, but they’re lost to us anyway. Instead, let’s focus on punishing the cowards and, yes, treasonous bastards who supported torture on our side. We have to make every one of these turncoat bastards pay, and pay dearly for this bullshit. Starting with Judas Joe.
